A Giant Bruce Lee Sculpture That Stole the Show

For the Lord Mayor’s Show 2014, we were asked to create something bold, dynamic, and full of impact—a 2.8-metre-tall replica of the iconic Bruce Lee statue by Chu Tat-shing. Commissioned by We Create Ideas, this giant martial arts legend was set to take centre stage on the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office float in the grand parade.
From Block to Bruce – How We Built the Legend
Bringing Bruce Lee to life at this epic scale required some serious sculpting magic. Since the statue was for a single-day event, we used polystyrene as the base material, carving out the powerful stance, fluid movement, and unmistakable silhouette of the martial arts master.
A polystyrene core – Perfect for achieving dynamic form and lightweight structure and can be recycled.
A protective polyurea coating – Giving the sculpture durability and a sleek, solid finish.
Hand-sculpted clay face – Because when it comes to capturing an icon, the details matter!
From Solid Block to Martial Arts Masterpiece
Watching a giant Bruce Lee sculpture emerge from a solid block of polystyrene was like witnessing pure transformation. Bit by bit, he took shape—each carve adding power, energy, and precision, just like Bruce Lee himself.
A Knockout Moment in the Parade
Standing tall at 2.8 metres, this high-kicking legend made sure all eyes were on the HK Economic & Trade Office float, bringing a powerful cultural icon to the streets of London.
