Fibreglass Mascot Sculptures – Bringing the Sochi Olympics 2014 Spirit to London!

The London Olympics may have been the talk of the town, but we’ve been busy creating mascots for an entirely different set of Games—the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics! And no, not those weird London mascots… we’re talking about friendly, larger-than-life characters that bring a little Russian winter magic to the streets of London.

Meet the Mascots

Working alongside the fantastic team at Icon World, we created a stunning winter wonderland installation featuring three fibreglass mascot sculptures, each representing iconic Russian wildlife:

🐻 A speed-skating Polar Bear – cool, confident, and gliding into action
🐇 A dancing Hare – full of energy and Olympic spirit
🐆 A snowboarding Leopard – effortlessly nailing those extreme winter vibes

How Do You Build a Winter Wonderland in the Summer?

With a whole lot of Plunge magic! Here’s how we brought these mascots to life:

🔹 Carved from polystyrene to create their dynamic, animated poses
🔹 Coated in GRP (fibreglass) for durability and a flawless finish
🔹 Hand-painted to give them personality and Olympic-worthy detail
🔹 Built a turreted igloo, glaciers, and snow-covered tree stumps to complete the icy scene

Frozen Fun… Under the Blazing Sun

Despite two long days installing the display under a scorching sun at Marble Arch, the mascots stayed perfectly frozen (phew!). And better yet? The public loved them. Sochi 2014, we’re ready for you!
